Alana Higman, a die-hard Kansas City Chiefs fan, and her family are competing to win Fan of the Year, in a process judged by Director of Fan Engagement Derrick. The movie was filmed on the historic Independence Square location in Independence, Missouri, which actually looks like it all year round.
I thought it was a cute movie
The locations that served as the Higman family store and Norma and Nick’s BBQ restaurant are real-life family-owned businesses. The Square also does a Christmas lighting display like the one in the movie..
It’s definitely a distinctive movie, with the over-the-top family always trying to fit in
It has a sports theme and I loved the little Easter eggs (Donna Kelce, Andy Reid, and older retired players) that appeared in the movie. This movie was a nice departure from the usual ‘high-powered female executive who comes to a small town to fix something and falls in love with the small town guy’.
I highly recommend watching the movie, especially if you’re a woman who likes sports and romance
Overall, while it was a typical hallmark and still a nice Christmas-themed movie, even though it wasn’t as big a theme as football.
